1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using the District School Board Ontario North East (DSB1) website (www.dsb1.ca) and our mobile application, you agree to comply with and be bound by these terms. These Terms of Use govern your access to all digital content, features, and services provided by DSB1. We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time without prior notice; continued use constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Privacy and Personal Information

DSB1 is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and the Education Act.

Notice of Collection: Personal information is collected under the legal authority of the Education Act. This information is used for the primary purpose of providing educational services, responding to inquiries, or administrative school board operations.

Access and Correction: You have the right to request access to, or correction of, your personal information maintained by the Board.

3. Privacy Breach Notification

In compliance with the Plan to Protect Ontario Act, 2026, DSB1 will notify individuals and the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) as soon as feasible in the event of a privacy breach that poses a "real risk of significant harm".

4. Intellectual Property Rights

All content on our platforms-including text, graphics, logos, images, and videos-is the property of DSB1 or its content suppliers and is protected by Canadian and international copyright laws. You may download or print materials for personal, non-commercial educational use only, provided all copyright notices remain intact.

5. Acceptable Use and Security

All users must comply with Board Procedure 2.1.10: Technology Use Standards.

Prohibited Activities: Users may not interfere with the security of the platforms, harass others, transmit malicious code, or misrepresent their identity.

Safeguards: DSB1 employs reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect data submitted via our platforms. To maintain system integrity, records related to digital security may be excluded from public access requests.

6. Accuracy and Disclaimers

While DSB1 strives for accuracy, all content is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of the information; use of the platforms is at your own risk.

7. Third-Party Links

Our platforms may contain links to external sites. DSB1 does not control and is not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party sites.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DSB1 shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your use of, or inability to use, our digital platforms.

9. Accessibility (AODA)

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada.
